Current Project

Cambodia Rural School Project

Giving Circle Fund is partnering with the local Cambodia Ministry of Education to provide funding for the construction of rural schools to alleviate poverty in the poorest remote areas of Cambodia. The cost to build a three-room school is $45,000, including all classroom furniture and blackboards. Giving Circle Fund has already raised $40,000 and needs to raise an additional $5,000 for the completion of the school. The building site for our school has already been identified and construction has started (see pictures) This construction will take up to eight months to complete. The completion date of the school is anticipated to be by end of March 2019.

Our support of the Cambodia Rural Schools Project will give impoverished children of the rural poor areas of Cambodia opportunities for a free education in order to break the cycle of poverty in their communities. The completed school will also have a Giving Circle Fund “Honors Circle” brass plaque placed on the school building recognizing the names of all donors who contributed $3,000 or more in support of the Cambodia Rural Schools Project. - July 2009 - Tin Shui Wai Summer Program

Tin Shui Wai - This area of Hong Kong has been dubbed the "city of sadness" for its high rate of unemployment, suicides, and spousal and child abuse. Tin Shui Wai is the victim of hasty town planning, insufficient infrastructure and poor governance. While the housing projects themselves are orderly and clean, the lack of employment, meaningful social interaction with other towns has led to the isolation of this district from Hong Kong's other suburbs. More job opportunities, transportation subsidies and social programs and workers are urgently needed to change the dire situation. Since support from the local government requires lengthy procedures and is limited, the hope of the refugees in Tin Shui Wai rely on sympathetic people who have noticed their plight and are willing to lend a helping hand.
